Please use the information on this page to understand how Bridgepoint works with educational institutions to provide clinical placements for learners.

Arranging a clinical placement

We welcome individual learners and groups of learners to our unique, interprofessional, collaborative environment.  We take learners from the professions and the institutions listed below, with which we have current affiliation agreements. Bridgepoint does not, in general, provide any funding for learners studying on placement.

Please note also that Bridgepoint can offer placements only to learners for whom the placement is part of their curriculum.  Students seeking paid or unpaid general hospital experience, outside of an academic curriculum should approach either the Volunteer Office or the Careers page.

In order to arrange a placement you should ask your institution to contact the Academic Office.  Other than medical trainees Bridgepoint does not accept placement requests directly from learners.

We consider learners for placements who are studying overseas where they are put forward via an affiliated academic partner. If you are studying overseas and hope to have a placement at Bridgepoint as part of your degree, ask your institution to contact one of the affiliated institutions listed on this page below.

Medical Trainees

Bridgepoint welcomes medical students, residents and Fellows from Canada, the US and countries beyond.  All medical trainees are required to register with the University of Toronto and follow that institution's processes in applying for undergraduate or postgraduate elective or selective rotations at Bridgepoint.

Bridgepoint has a number of electives in the University of Toronto undergraduate electives catalogue.  All elective areas are available to both undergraduates and postgraduates and we welcome Fellows in any area.

Learners with an interest in taking an elective at Bridgepoint should contact the Academic Office to enquire whether the supervisor is available for the dates they have in mind. Placement length is flexible depending on learner and supervisor availability.  You may express a preference for a services to be placed on, depending on your interests.  Once dates have been agreed learners must book their placement through the appropriate system.

For University of Toronto medical residents doing blocks of their Core Rotation at Bridgepoint only, we are currently able to provide facilities for TB testing and mask fit testing. Interested residents should contact the Occupational Health Department directly.
