Hospitals as Healthy and Sustainable Settings: Reflections and Future DirectionsDr. Mark Dooris is Director of the Healthy Settings Development Unit and Principal Lecturer in Public Health Policy and Practice within the School of Public Health and Clinical Sciences at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). His team engages in research, evaluation, teaching, training, network development and program delivery – working within and across a range of settings including: cities, prisons, probation, health services, workplaces and higher education.
Mark studied at Oxford University and Southbank Polytechnic, has completed the National Public Health Leadership Program and recently undertook his Doctorate at Deakin University (Australia), entitled ‘Healthy Settings: Past, Present and Future’. He has a background in health promotion, public health, community development, healthy cities and environmental and transport policy – and has worked in a range of roles within local government, health service and voluntary sector settings. Mark is also Chair of the Global Working Group (GWG) on Healthy Settings of the International Union of Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE). |
