The lecture demonstrates how good design in a hospital setting can help healing and recovery, promote health and well being, improve staff well being and performance, increase our connectedness to the local community, and contribute to environmental improvement and sustainable development.

The Mindful Clinician: The Benefits of Being in the Moment

The term 'mindfulness' is permeating through the clinical, medical and scientific communities with much excitement. The first wave focused on how to employ "mindfulness techniques" with those who suffered from pain, depression, anxiety or recurring psycho-physical symptoms. Experience is beginning to illustrate that what is most beneficial about mindfulness meditation and contemplative practice, is the clinician's own presence and how 'being in the moment' helps reduce burnout, increases the quality of clinical interventions and positively impacts our respective clinical techniques.

From 2005 and onwards, Hanne has been the Head of Research for Clinical Health Promotion at Bispebjerg Hospital and the CEO, International Secretariat for Network of Health Promoting Hospitals under the WHO.

An Innovation Strategy Steering Committee has been established to set priorities and specific projects are being developed to support these areas.

Dr. Alex Jadad’s mission is to help improve health and wellness for all, through information and communication technologies (ICTs). Dr. Jadad is the founder of the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation. He is also spearheading the development of the Global eHealth and eWellness Network Initiative (GENI, pronounced as "genie"), a unique group of individuals, organizations, tools and facilities working in harmony to promote research, development, education, policy, funding, recognition and commercialization activities related to the uses of ICTs to promote optimal levels of health and wellness, worldwide.
