Advanced Access

What is advanced access?

Advanced Access is a model of scheduling appointments within 1-2 working days from when an appointment is requested. Prior to the pandemic, this was our goal of care. Unfortunately, since the pandemic, our demand has greatly increased and our advanced access is now closer to 4-5 working days, depending on your clinician. While our goal is to return to 1-2 working days from appointment request, it will take us time to get through the backlog of work. Please note that we continue to have same day urgent appointments for urgent concnerns.

To help us get back to the 1-2 working day request, please help us by:

  • Bringing your valid OHIP card to your appointment

  • Informing us of any address or phone number changes

  • Bringing your medications with you for every visit. This helps us make sure our lists are up to date and we can see if you need any refills, especially if you were prescribed medication from someone not at our clinic. We will not necessarily have the name or strength of what was given to you.

  • Bringing any forms or papers you need to have completed. Please complete your portion of any forms prior to your appointment, this includes your name/ signature

Why advanced access? This system will allow you to:

  • See your doctor quickly when you have concerns about your health.

  • Schedule appointments that work with your personal schedule. This cuts down on missed and cancelled appointments.

How does advanced access work?

Non-urgent appointments are scheduled within 1-2 days:

  • Routine follow-up (doctor has asked you to return after a specified time - i.e., 2 weeks, 3 months, etc.).

  • Preventive care (i.e., annual physical).

  • Non-urgent issues that arise (i.e., health education, immunizations, etc.).

Urgent care appointments will always be scheduled the same day you call.

  • Fever, earache, sore throat, etc.

Our Urgent Care Clinics are offered to our patients on evenings and weekends. Please call to schedule an appointment.

  • Monday-Thursday 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.

  • Saturday 9 a.m.- 11:30 a.m.

Speak with any of our team members if you have any questions.
