Philip Arthur

Phil Arthur recently retired from Ernst & Young, where he began his career in 1970 (it was called Clarkson Gordon then) and became a partner in 1980. He has a Masters of Business Administration degree and is a Fellow Chartered Accountant. During his career, Mr. Arthur worked with clients in many industries, including a number of not for profit and healthcare entities, but recently has specialized in serving financial institutions. His clients included TD Bank Financial Group and Manulife Financial.

Mr. Arthur is a member of the Board of Directors of The Standard Life Assurance Company of Canada. He is also Chair of the Insurance Accounting Task Force of the Canadian Accounting Standards Board and is a member of the Insurance Working Group of the International Accounting Standards Board. He advised a number of companies in Canada, the U.S. and Europe on financial reporting and other matters.

Mr. Arthur has been a Warden of Grace Church on the Hill, a Director and Chair of the Finance Committee of the York School, and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the University of Trinity College at the University of Toronto. He joined the Bridgepoint Health Foundation Board of Directors in 2008 and was appointed Chair in 2009.
