Maureen Kempston Darkes retired from General Motors Corporation in 2009, where she was Group Vice President and President, GM Latin America, Africa and Middle East, and a member of the General Motors Automotive Strategy Board.
Ms. Kempston Darkes currently serves on the boards of Canadian National Railway, Brookfield Asset Management and Fort Reliance (Irving Oil), and on the University of Toronto President’s International Alumni Council. Previously, she was the chair for major gifts for Women's College Hospital fundraising campaigns and co-chaired the BC Cancer Foundation's Millennium Campaign. Past board positions also include the Ontario Minister of Health’s Women’s Health Council.
Ms. Kempston Darkes holds a Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Toronto and is called to the Bar of Ontario. Among other honours, Ms. Kempston Darkes is a member of the Order of Ontario and an Officer of the Order of Canada.
Ms. Kempston Darkes joined the Bridgepoint Health Foundation Board of Directors in 2010.
