Business Office/Bank Machine
The hospital's Business Office is located on the ground floor next to the elevators and offers patients limited financial and banking services. The Business Office is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (excluding statutory holidays). For more information, please contact the Business Office directly at 416-461-8252 ext. 2957.
An Automated Banking Machine is located on the first floor near the elevators just outside of the Parkside Café cafeteria.
The hospital's cafeteria is called the Parkside Café and is located on the first floor, next to the elevators. The Parkside Café is open to patients and visitors from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily. A menu hotline is updated daily and can be reached by calling 416-461-8252 ext. 3463 (DINE).
The Parkside Café provides a variety of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Dining times are generally as follows:
- Breakfast 7:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.
- Lunch 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Dinner 4 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Vending machines are also located just outside of the cafeteria.
The Hospital's Gift Shop offers a wide range of gifts, personal items and refreshments for patients and visitors. The Gift Shop is supported by Bridgepoint’s volunteers. The sale of tobacco products is prohibited.
Gift Shop Hours:
- Monday – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Sunday – 12 noon to 4 p.m.
Ethics Consultation Service
Ethics consultations help patients make decisions about advanced care planning such as preparing a living will, tube feeding and end of life care. Ethics consulting is available to patients, family members, friends and substitute decision makers upon request. Internet and Computer Services
Bridgepoint offers patients access to personal computers and the Internet during their stay at the hospital through our Bridgepoint & Click program. If you would like to access a computer or use the Internet during your stay, please speak with a member of your care team.
A coin operated washer and dryer are available for your use. Speak to a member of your care team for location. Please supply your own detergent. Dirty laundry can be kept in a plastic bag at the bottom of your locker in your room.
We expect patients to look after their own clothing; this includes doing their own laundry or arranging laundry to be done for them. Staff are not responsible for doing laundry for patients.
At Bridgepoint, our focus on health promotion and wellness for our staff, patients and families is integrated into everything that we do through our LiveWell! program. LiveWell! program information is posted on the Bridgepoint Patient Activity Calendar and available from your care team. As well, the Sun Life Financial Health Information Centre located on the first floor outside the elevators provides access to information, resources, programs and services for people living with complex chronic disease. Smoke Free for Wellness
At Bridgepoint, we take a great deal of pride in our commitment to creating a culture that embraces health and wellness for our staff, patients and their families. It is in this spirit that Bridgepoint became a smoke free facility effective May 31, 2006, in accordance with the Smoke-Free Ontario Act. Patients and visitors who wish to smoke may do so nine meters away from the hospital’s main entrance located on the first floor.
Meditation Room
A meditation room is located on the second floor of the hospital and is available for personal prayer and meditation.
Wellness Wishes
Wellness Wishes is a service that allows family and friends to send e-mail greetings to patients, via a secure page on Bridgepoint's website. The message is received by our Patient Wellness Program Coordinator who prints it out and hand delivers it. Visit our E-mail a Patient page for more information.
Patients or visitors who lose an item should ask a member of their care team if the item has been turned in. You can also contact Security at 416-461-8252 ext. 2086 to see if the item has been turned in. If you find an item, please give it to a member of your care team or return it to the Reception Desk at the main entrance on the first floor.
Mail for patients is delivered directly to the patient unit. Outgoing patient mail can be placed in the box at the unit desk or in the mailboxes located at the main entrance on the first floor. Stamps can be purchased at the Gift Shop on the first floor.
Newspaper boxes are located inside the main entrance on the first floor.
Bridgepoint offers a comprehensive Spiritual Care Program to our patients and family members. Services include:
- One-to-one visitation to explore a wide variety of spiritual topics, including beliefs, healing, death and dying;
- Worship services, including Roman Catholic Mass and Ecumenical Services;
- Sacred rituals and sacrament planning and celebrations;
- Attendance to concerns related to grief and loss.
Every Sunday, the following spiritual services take place in the Auditorium on the first floor:
- Ecumenical Service — 10 a.m.
- Roman Catholic Mass – 2:30 p.m.
A standard touch-tone phone can be provided to patients in their room for a small daily fee. Phone service can be activated by dialing "0" for the hospital operator and providing the operator with the name, room number and bed number of the patient. If assistance is required, please speak with any member of your care team. If you require a special phone, it may be purchased with the assistance of your occupational therapist.
Courtesy Telephone
A courtesy phone is located by the main entrance on the first floor and is available for internal calls only. Simply dial the extension of the person you wish to reach. If you require assistance, please see the Receptionist at the main entrance.
Pay Telephone
A pay phone is located on the first floor beside the elevators.
A personal television is available for a fee. Please ask a member of your care team once you have settled into your room. In addition, there are TV lounges on each floor next to the elevators.
Taxis
A free, direct line to Co-op Taxi telephone is located on the first floor by the main entrance.
Wheel Trans
TTC Wheel Trans picks up patients and visitors outside of the hospital’s main entrance on the first floor.
